WIM Site Assessment Tool

The WIM Site Assessment tool helps users assess whether a proposed or existing site is conducive for collecting accurate and consistent WIM data based on ASTM E1318-09 site selection requirements, pavement strength requirements from COST 232, pavement smoothness requirements from AASHTO M331-17 for WIM systems, and FHWA WIM Pocket Guide recommendations. From user inputs, this tool also evaluates the practicality of WIM site locations with respect to supporting infrastructure, safety, and future calibration needs. The tool generates a printable WIM Site Assessment Report for one instrumented WIM lane at a time. The tool is designed to be used in the field and provided as a downloadable Windows-based application.
