Opens and immediately crashes. Finding it difficult to learn from this course when all of the supporting resources don't seem to work.

It was a great program to learn more about JavaScript but now it just crashes when you trying to open it. On Windows 10 1607

Cannot even load app... for surface rt 8.1

Can't Launch the app from the store because it crashes immediately. I've also tried cloning the project from github and deploying through Visual Studio 2015, and it also crashes immediately with an exception complaining about "unable to start a connection"
